I have been training with Ryan for about 3 years. Initially, I was gifted some training sessions by a friend. I had never really thought about working with a trainer as I had always worked out by myself and had considered myself fairly knowledgeable in the area of weight training. After a couple of sessions, I quickly started realizing the benefits that training with Ryan could have. I had been struggling with low back pains for years from a surgery I had while in high school. Ryan was able to tailor a specific routine for this and after a few months of targeted training, I haven't had back pains since. Ryan has been fantastic over the years at helping me expand my knowledge of weight training and teaching me how to apply that knowledge to meet my personal goals. I enjoy learning new exercises that differ from the same ones that I had been repetitively doing for years. I always look forward to the extra push that I get during training sessions to go above and beyond what I'd do alone. I truly look forward to each session. The impact of personal training on my physical and mental well-being is enormous. Despite having reached my mid-60s, I’m in the best physical shape of my life. While I enjoy many other types of exercise, I never enjoyed and wasn’t very successful at strength training on my own. Working with Ryan has shown me that I can achieve goals I used to view as impossible, which gives me a real sense of strength and accomplishment. Regular sessions add structure and accountability to my fitness regimen, which I especially appreciate now that I’ve retired. Most of my days are no longer highly scheduled so having a routine training program keeps me disciplined and on track.

I’ve experienced a myriad of physical benefits from training with Ryan. I’ve increased and maintained muscle mass at a time when most women are losing muscle. This gives me the stamina and energy to continue enjoying a very active lifestyle and to keep up with my young grandchildren, all of which allow me to maintain a healthy weight as I age. Ryan also incorporates a focus on balance and flexibility that has minimized my risk for falls and other age-related injuries. Dedication to a structured fitness regimen also helps me to maintain good eating habits, so as not to negatively impact all the hard work done at the gym.

A particular benefit of training with Ryan is his ability to tailor workouts to my personal needs. Whether it’s a nagging injury or a day when I’m just not feeling my best, he’s great at modifying a workout to fit the situation. This keeps me active on days when I might otherwise not exercise at all, and I typically feel much better afterward.

An additional benefit is Ryan’s drive to continually update his knowledge base. He’s an expert in musculoskeletal anatomy and body mechanics and is always seeking out new information that could help him to better assist his clients in achieving their goals.

I can’t honestly say that I enjoy strength training. It’s hard work! But I do enjoy working with Ryan. He’s got the perfect personality for a trainer…knows when and how hard to push you and when to dial things down. I also enjoy the great variety of exercises he comes up with, which keeps things interesting and as close to fun as it gets for me!

There’s no question that personal training is an investment. But in my experience, it’s one of the best ways to invest your money. Training with Ryan makes a tremendous difference in the quality of my life, especially as I age. The value of the physical and mental strength and well-being that personal training brings me is incalculable, not only to me but also to family and friends.
